God answers prayer. What an awesome thought. We want you to pray with us for joy, humility, peace, creativity, patience and love. But what does that really mean?
(Scripture verses on this page are taken from the New Living Translation.)
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
When we spend time worshiping God in song and dance, when we read stories of his faithfulness and experience his power in our lives, it is so easy to be full of joy! But when our plans fail and opportunities are missed, we can quickly forget our source of hope, joy and peace.
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
--Jesus (John 16:33)
I love the picture that the Hebrew concept of peace or Shalom (שָׁלוֹם) is not just absence of trouble, but wholeness of relationship and all that is right. Pray that no matter how troubled the world is around us, we will have peace in our hearts.
Whether at home in the office, we need to keep coming back to this. God's love changes us and without it we are empty and useless. With it we have hope and something to share!
